 The Senior Coordinator, Employment Programs plays a key role in coordinating and delivering employment and life skills programming for youth and adults ages 15 and older who are out of school and out of work. The position supports participants through employment readiness, career exploration, skills development, and job placement opportunities to help them overcome barriers to employment and achieve long-term success.

Working as part of the Employment Programs & Services team, the Senior Coordinator is responsible for program coordination, outreach and recruitment, workshop facilitation, employer engagement, staff supervision, and community partnership development. This role contributes to building stronger communities by empowering participants through inclusive, client-centered employment programming.


Report to: Manager, Employment Programs & Services


Key Duties and Responsibilities of this position include:

•Responsible for the coordination and evaluation of the employment programs.

•Supervise other project staff and project participants.

•Assist with the revision of program goals and objectives to meet the changing needs of program participants.

•Comply with policies and procedures governing the program and ensures that the program is operating at maximum efficiency.

•Ensure the delivery of project components facilitating skill development, career exploration and employability workshops when necessary.

•Coordinate outreach and recruitment strategy to underserved youth about their employability needs.

•Co-ordinate support to ensure the delivery of employment and referral programs for 'at risk' youth including life skills, outreach and referral initiatives.

•Co-ordinate weekly job development and placement goals for youth who require the support.

•Responsible for seeking local employers to establish employment placement opportunities for clients.

•Connect with placement agencies on a regular basis to discuss participant’s progress and potential areas for improvement.

•Develop and facilitate resume and interview workshops (include reviewing participants’ resumes and cover letter; facilitate mock interviews).

•Facilitate employment readiness workshops as required.

•Assist participants in developing an employment action plan and monitor their progress.

•Responsible for resolving employment concerns between employer and program participant.

•Collect and verify participants’ timesheets and attendance records; submit the timesheets to the Manager for processing.

•Develop performance management and improvement systems for staff team.

•Continuously evaluate and adapt workshop delivery to improve client engagement and program results.

•Facilitate collaborative partnership with community-based agencies as well as the business sector.

•Maintain accurate records and develop a tracking plan that provides quantitative and qualitative data.

•Create opportunities to engage young people in an assessment of their employability needs.

•Consolidate weekly, monthly and project end reports.

•Undertaking other tasks as assigned.


Qualifications:

•Degree or Diploma in one of the Human Service Professions, Social work, Employment Counselling, and/or Mental Health/Addictions program).

•Minimum 2 years of experience in employment services, customer service, client engagement, or retention-focused roles.

•Demonstrated experience in employment and general counselling, possessing knowledge of pre-employment support methods and labour market resources.

•Demonstrated success working with a wide range of job seekers, including youth, newcomers, internationally trained professionals, OW, EI, and ODSP recipients, long-term unemployed individuals, and persons with disabilities.

•Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion in dealing with the general public.

•Strong problem-solving and analytical skills and ability to perform duties with minimal supervision.

•Must possess strong communication skills both written and oral.

•Strong case management and organizational skills.

•Knowledge of computer applications, employment training and career assessment skills.

•Previous teaching/tutoring experience.

•Knowledge of the Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Act and other Employment Legislations.

•Current Standard First Aid and CPR.

•High Five Certification or willingness to obtain.

•Current Vulnerable Sector Police Check.

•Valid Driver’s license and access to a vehicle for travel


Assets should include:

•In-depth knowledge of employment and workplace legislation such as Human Rights, Health and Safety.

•Experience with EOIS-CaMS, POES, FFAI and/or other databases would be a definite asset.

•Proficiency in all Microsoft Office products is required - i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, etc.

•Previous experience working in an employment training program or setting.

•Demonstrates a strong work ethic.

•Ability to work in an environment requiring data collection, meeting deadlines, and achieving targets.

•Analytical and problem-solving skills.

•Effective verbal, presentation and listening communication skills.

•Effective negotiation and mediation skills.

•Effective written communication skills.

•Ability to work from a trauma informed and client centered approach.
